Transition management

Enabling transitions for a healthy planet

Transition management involves designing and facilitating an inclusive process of pathfinding in a highly uncertain context. The process enables the emergence of a new future-proof dynamic and vision for all stakeholders. It requires deep listening and developing and fostering a connection between stakeholders. We then engage in ideation and exploration of possible futures and what is needed to achieve desired outcomes.

System transitions

Transitions require changes in many different parts of a system to work together. Changes in one part create conditions for changes in other parts so that all can move towards a shared desired outcome. Even if the desired direction is known the path often remains unclear and the challenges to overcome, particularly in the short-run, can be huge.

Transitioning whole systems of industrial, commercial, agricultural and infrastructural sectors and their stakeholders to a new future requires intensive work with stakeholders to listen, share and create visions of the future, to explore possible routes, to co-create, experiment, learn and explore further.

We provide transition process design and facilititation for organisations, coalitions and the public sector to enable these system transitions.

Towards regenerative business

You want your business to move towards greater sustainability and ultimately to become regenerative. The uncertainties are daunting. How will the business environment evolve around you? What will your employees, customers, suppliers, financiers and governments demand? How far can you feasibly go and how?

We help you design and facilitate a process to chart a path together with your stakeholders, internally and externally. Your business purpose, anchored in sustainability, is our compass. The route is flexible and designed both to meet the needs of the participants and to mobilise all to collaborate towards shared goals. To realise this we focus on fostering a safe and effective learning environment and empowering teams, individuals and organisations to make their best contribution. Together you shape your regenerative future.

Experience

Our approach is based on extensive (international) personal experience in stakeholder processes, coalition building and development of sector-based approaches for sustainability transitions.

Examples include the design and delivery of a program to improve energy efficiency in textile supply chains of H&M, Levi's, GAP and adidas in China in collaboration with manufacturing companies, government and financing institutions, and the development of a stakeholder consultation process for national renewable energy policy development in the Netherlands.
